DIY "Embroidery painting"

Ph. Bloesem, me

I own many books with sewing- and embroidery paterns. All thoughI can't make all of the creations in the books, there are some things I just got to try. This idea was one of them, embroidery painting. How cool is that? I decided to paint the paterns on a plate because I don't have smooth walls at home.

What do you need?
- cross template (I used this one)
- ruler
- pencil
- paint brushes (I used size 3)
- paint
- plate of a smooth (preferably white) wall

Start with drawing your patern on the middle of the plate. I made a cross in the middle to decide where to start. Make sure you don't make the crosses to obvious, because otherwise your paint won't cover the pencil.
When you can't find the template, here is a tip. I made crosses from 2 to 2 centimers with 0,5 centimeters in between.

When the complete pattern is on your plate (or wall) you can start painting. Make sure you paint one color at the time and let it dry before you start with antoher colour. I experienced when you don't you have the chance the colors start to mix and this affects the end result. It takes quite a while before you are done but I'm really pleased with the end result!

The original idea is from Eline Pellinkhof. You can find her blog and more cute ideas here.
